CHRISTIAN UNITY

I wrote this 'Rapper'-like poem in response to the young man who uploaded a video about Jesus hating religion.  He claims to love Jesus, but HATE religion.  I think it is very sad when people who say they follow Christ bring each other down.  I believe that Christ wants us to unite, despite our differences, to love above all things.  So here is my version of what I would say to this modern day poet.

Your opinion dear brother has been heard throughout the land
And your prejudice is obvious; you’ve shown us your hand
You see my problem is not with those that follow Christ,
But with evil, and dominions and all those anti-christs
You love Jesus in your heart you say
Others love Him too in their own unique way
In a Forest,
In a Church,
In a Home,
In a Jail
Peace to all my brothers, Peace to all the Earth
Jesus is hard to follow,
The road is narrow and long,
But the rewards are countless
Would you say I’m wrong?
We should not hurt each other, with our words and with our songs,
We should work for Christian unity, it is for that He longs,
So I say to you dear brother
Dividing is not right
We must defend each other
To make this world more bright
Why should anyone follow Jesus?
When all we do is fight
Why should anyone follow Jesus?
When Christians can not unite.
I say we work together to fix what may be wrong
Without hurting one another, let’s lift our voice in song.
Come one and all to see the world as He wants it to be
We can unite, we can hold hands in love and liberty.
Peace

  1. Beautiful poem, Prayer Warrior. Jesus told us of the strife and He promised us strength to carry our crosses. So, we continue to pray for the cardinal virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity.

  2. YES - I enjoyed your poem Prayer Warrior. "Where one sits is where one stands" - After listening to the original youtube video I hear that young man's pain and frustration. He has some valid points, but many statements are debatable. We need to remember his views are from where he stands. Kudos to him for expressing in a creative way the flaws with organized religion. He has opend the gates for many others to share their thoughts. He needs to step outside of his shoes and see another perspective, and the other youtube responses must make him think about his claims.
Much of what he states is out of hurt and ignorance, such as the church does not do anything about the hungry and homeless. He needs to do much more research. He also needs to re-read the bible. Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fulfil it! Lastly, without 'the church' establishment our civilization would be much different and not for the good I fear.
This young man has not found good holy people as role models and the Catholic, leading the way, is to blame. Jesus came to bring us ALL closer to the Father - Jew and Gentile! Yes, a 'personal' relationship is needed. However ALL personal relationships MUST enjoy or love what the 'other' loves/enjoys. And, Jesus LOVES/ENJOYS ALL of God's creation that includes PEOPLE! ALL people - not just the ones who go to church or say a particualr prayer or dress acertain way. So we MUST be in relationship with other humans and what better way to do this but in a community - a church/religious community. Fellowship is when two people bring God into the relationship and we most likely find this at church.
